The challenge
The site & the goals
A west-facing back yard that was unusable for half the year — the owners wanted a shaded outdoor room they could use morning and evening through the West Texas seasons, tied back to the house.
The design
The approach
We engineered a covered patio with a cedar deck, tying the roof into the existing home with proper flashing and footings set for our soil. Stained cedar, a ceiling fan, and integrated lighting turned the slab into a real outdoor room.
